POS Keyboards
Programmable keyboards are either something you love and use everydoy or thay are not. This sounds silly, but if your retail outlet is designed around using a POS keyboard then you will love them. Personally, I think they are just a waste of counter space!
Typically these are not used with Utillity for a good reason: Utillity is very easy to use with a barcode scanner so a keyboard (of this type) is not needed.
Programmable keyboards are rather pricy and often not used. Some vendors supply POS terminals which are not "typical computers" and here a POS keyboard is used. We at Premier Software prefer to let you use the hardware you are comfortable using - and where it is easy to get support.
Utillity has the ability to make a touch screen into a "programmable keyboard" with your stock and departments very easily!
Major brands include Access (pictured here), IBM, and Posiflex.
Price Range: They range in size and price from 84 keys up and from about R500.00 up.
Accessories: Some POS keyboards (as the one in the picture) have card swipe devices. This is great for loyalty operations, but a lot of card terminals require that you swipe on the device. Other than these swipe devices you can sometimes get the keyboards linked to scales.
As Utillity is targeted at the clothing and footwear industry, these keyboards and their add-ons are of little value.
